GS Renovation Ltd's registered office is at 3 Chauncy Avenue, Potters Bar, EN6 5LE, in Hertsmere. That puts much of south Hertfordshire within a short drive: Borehamwood, Hatfield, Radlett, Cheshunt, Welwyn Garden City and St Albans are all within about eight miles of the office. We work in the 20 Hertfordshire towns in the table below, as well as across London.
The firm is run by Abdelaaziz Saaid. GS Renovation Ltd was incorporated in 2023 to formalise a trade he had already run for years. We are a building contractor with a structural specialism: we install the steel beams and take out the load-bearing walls ourselves. We are not structural engineers. On any structural work the structural engineer we appoint designs and sizes the steel, we build to that design, and building control inspects and signs the work off.

Building control in Hertfordshire
Most Hertfordshire councils do not run building control in house. Their service is Hertfordshire Building Control, a company owned by eight councils: Broxbourne, Dacorum, East Herts, Hertsmere, North Herts, Stevenage, Three Rivers and Welwyn Hatfield. St Albans and Watford are different: St Albans City and District Council runs a shared building control service with Watford Borough Council. In either case you can instead use a registered building control approver. Whichever body it is, it inspects the work at the set stages and issues the completion certificate, not the builder and not the engineer.
Planning for building work in Hertfordshire
Planning sits with the district or borough council shown in the table. Taking out a load-bearing wall or a chimney breast is a building regulations matter, not a planning one, unless the house is listed, when listed building consent covers internal work too and doing it without consent is a criminal offence. A single storey rear extension can be permitted development within the limits, including in a conservation area, unless an Article 4 direction removes it; side extensions, two storey rear extensions and roof extensions in a conservation area need planning permission. Flats have no householder permitted development. Some Hertfordshire councils, Welwyn Hatfield among them, have Article 4 directions, so check your council's Article 4 list before any drawings are commissioned.
Where the work cuts into a shared wall, the Party Wall Act applies. You serve the party wall notice as building owner (or your surveyor does); we give you the drawings and programme it needs and build to any award.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which parts of Hertfordshire do you cover?
We work in 20 Hertfordshire towns, listed with their postcodes on this page, from Borehamwood, Hatfield, Radlett, Cheshunt, Welwyn Garden City and St Albans near our office out to the towns further north and west. Our registered office is at 3 Chauncy Avenue, Potters Bar, EN6 5LE.
Who does building control in Hertfordshire?
Hertfordshire Building Control, a company owned by eight councils (Broxbourne, Dacorum, East Herts, Hertsmere, North Herts, Stevenage, Three Rivers and Welwyn Hatfield), covers most of the county. St Albans and Watford use a shared service run by St Albans City and District Council with Watford Borough Council. You can use a registered building control approver instead. The building control body inspects the work and issues the completion certificate.
Do I need planning permission to remove a load-bearing wall in Hertfordshire?
No, unless the house is listed. Removing an internal load-bearing wall is a building regulations matter: the structural engineer we appoint designs and sizes the beam, we install it, and building control inspects and signs it off. On a listed building, listed building consent covers internal work too, and doing it without consent is a criminal offence.
What does building work cost in Hertfordshire?
We publish London ranges, and Hertfordshire work generally runs below them. As a guide, a steel beam over one opening is £1,500 to £4,000 in London, a full knock-through £2,500 to £6,500 or more, and a mid-range kitchen £20,000 to £40,000. These are indicative ranges from MyBuilder and Checkatrade, 2026. Every job is quoted from a survey.
