Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 27 October 2026

We want everyone to be able to use this website, find out about our work and get in touch with us, whatever device they use and however they use it.

What we aim for

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We have not yet met it everywhere, so for now the website partially conforms to that standard. The issues we know about are listed below.

The site is built to let you:

  • move through every page with a keyboard, starting with a “Skip to content” link
  • see where you are when using a keyboard, through a visible focus outline
  • use labelled form fields, with messages announced to screen readers when a form is sent
  • have pages read out in English (UK), with text descriptions on meaningful images

How we tested

On 27 October 2026 we ran automated checks with axe-core against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA rules on five representative pages (the home page, our London builders page, a service and area page, the contact page and a blog guide), each at phone and desktop widths. We also checked a number of things by hand: page language, the skip link, image descriptions, form labels, status messages and keyboard focus.

We have not yet tested the whole site with a screen reader from start to finish.

Issues our last check found

On 27 October 2026 we found these problems, and we are working on them:

  • Focus hidden behind the bar at the bottom of the screen on phones. When moving through a page with a keyboard on a small screen, some links and buttons can sit behind the fixed bar of buttons at the bottom of the screen, so you cannot see which one is selected (WCAG 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured).
  • Small contact links on the contact page on phones. Two of the contact links are smaller than the recommended 24 by 24 pixel target (WCAG 2.5.8 Target Size).
  • Wide tables in some blog guides. Tables that scroll sideways on phones cannot yet be scrolled with the keyboard alone (WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard).

Content we do not control

The map on our home page is provided by Google, and the review pages we link to are run by Google and MyBuilder. We cannot change how accessible those are. Our address, service area and reviews are also given as text on our own pages.

Tell us about a problem, or ask for another format

If you find something on this website hard to use, or you need information from it in a different format, such as large print, a plain-text email or a phone call to talk it through, please contact us:

Please tell us the web address of the page and what went wrong. We will reply and, where we can, fix the problem or give you the information another way. You never need to use the website to get a quote: you can always call us instead.

About this statement

This statement was prepared on 27 October 2026, based on the testing described above. We will review it whenever we make significant changes to the website, and at least once a year.
